Tom Hiddleston reveals his very embarrassing nickname at Eton

Tom Hiddleston has opened up about being the victim of bullying while going to school at Eton. During a visit to The Graham Norton Show, the Avengers star admitted that he had a difficult time at school because of his surname. He said: "Very soon after I arrived I got the nickname 'Piddle' and the boys made up the rhyme, 'Hiddle Piddle did a widdle in the middle of the night.'"

Tom, 36, admitted that he still gets called it occasionally, adding: "My closest friends still call me 'Pid' but it's affectionate now." He also spoke about being at school with fellow actor Eddie Redmayne, and gave an insight into how their acting career began at school. "I was in A Passage to India with Eddie Redmayne, who played the female lead," he revealed. "I on the other hand, played the front leg of the elephant he rode!"

The star recently opened up about his relationship with Taylor Swift, who he dated for three months back in 2016. Chatting about the star during an interview with GQ, he said: "Taylor is an amazing woman. She's generous and kind and lovely, and we had the best time together." He added that he was surprised by the amount of attention their relationship received, saying: "I don't know. I just, I was surprised. I was just surprised that it got so much attention. The tank top became an emblem of this thing. I only know the woman I met. She's incredible. A relationship in the limelight… A relationship always takes work. And it's not just the limelight, it's everything else. So we decided to go out for dinner, we decided to travel."

He also spoke more about that tank top, saying: "The truth is, it was the Fourth of July and a public holiday and we were playing a game and I slipped and hurt my back. And I wanted to protect the graze from the sun and said, 'Does anyone have a T-shirt?' And one of her friends said, 'I've got this one.' And we all laughed about it. It was a joke."
