Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have a long history of romantic red carpet moments on the French Riviera. But with his fiancée occupied elsewhere due to filming commitments, the Hollywood heavyweight had to go solo at the premiere of Killing Them Softly. Even though he's 48 and a dedicated father of six, Brad proved that he's still a draw for the fairer sex, with an array of beauties turning out for his screening. From the moment the heartthrob arrived in a black suit and aviator shades, it was clear he wanted to make the most of the night.

He whipped out his iPhone to capture the throng of photographers, fans and celebrities gathered to experience his star power – and inspired his director, Andrew Dominik, to do the same.  With Angelina absent, there was an opportunity for the ladies present to snare the title of queen of the red carpet. Kelly Brook was a clear frontrunner, wowing in an bright, bejewelled gown.

But model Irina Shayk, who earlier in the day had shown off a $5 million diamond sparkler, stole the show in a scarlet number. Brad arrived in Cannes to feverish curiosity about his nuptials with Angelina. He revealed that they are still in the early stages of planning, saying: "We actually, really, truly have no date." For now, his focus is on promoting the Palme d'Or-nominated crime thriller, in which he plays an underworld figure contracted to mete out revenge. Brad said he was interested in the film because he was looking for stories that "say something about our time and who we are".Brad and Angelina celebrate their engagement
