It’s a girl for Thor actor Chris Hemsworth and wife Elsa Pataky. The happy couple have welcomed their first child together, a daughter named India Rose. "We love the country and love the name," the proud papa, 28, told Us Weekly.

Australian star Chris - currently appearing in superhero smash hit The Avengers – met Elsa in 2010. They tied the knot in December of that year, three months after confirming their romance.

Spanish beauty Elsa, 35, who was born in Madrid, announced her pregnancy in January 2012.

Speaking exclusively to HELLO! magazine’s sister publication HOLA!, the Fast Five actress said she and Chris were "delighted and very excited" to be expecting a baby. "Since it’s our first child we don’t care if it’s a boy or a girl, our only wish it that it’s healthy," she said. And she said that Chris had some work to do ahead of the birth. "I’m only going to speak to the baby in Spanish," she revealed. "I already told my husband, 'Get ready fast with Spanish because if not you’re not going to be able to understand what we say.'"

The couple made a public appearance together at the UK premier of The Avengers in April, where Chris was seen proudly rubbing his wife’s baby bump.
