Katie Holmes prepares for her first Thanksgiving without Tom Cruise

Thanksgiving is a time for family and for divorcee Katie Holmes this year will be no exception. Celebrating her first Thanksgiving alone in a long time, The Dawson's Creek actress, who split from her husband Tom Cruise in June, is planning to head home to her native Ohio and spend the day with her parents. It is believed that Katie and her six-year-old daughter Suri are to leave their New York home for some family time on the special day.Speaking on a US chat show 33-year-old Katie said "we have Thursday off, so I'm going to have the chance to go home with my family." The star added that she had been "warming up" for the day's traditional feast by already having enjoyed "a little bit of turkey and stuffing and derby pie which was awesome. I thought, 'why am I starting this early' but it was amazing and I'm actually not sick of it, I'm ready for more."

Whilst Katie admitted she herself does not have a signature dish, Suri's grandmother and aunties will be treating the little one with their culinary skills this November. Katie revealed "my sister makes a really good sausage stuffing and my mom makes a great turkey. "The actress has a day off from her broadway commitments in New York where she is currently starring in Dead Accounts. But whilst the holiday provides a break from her acting duties, there is no rest for Katie's exercise regime. The mum-of-one will take part in a three mile run, known as the 'Turkey Trot', a tradition started by her father Martin. "Many years ago, my dad started this tradition where we all do this run in the local park" Katie said. "There's even a prize, which I haven't won yet but it's really fun. "The Batman Begins star is not the only celebrity marking their first Thanksgiving as a divorcee. Supermodel Heidi Klum, who split from Seal early this year, also faces the special day without her husband of seven years.

Heidi and Seal, who have four children, called time on their marriage in January saying they had grown apart. But the 39-year-old has found since found love with her bodyguard Michael Kirsten who will no doubt be spending the festive day with Heidi and her little ones, Leni, Henry, Johan and Lou.Michael and Heidi were out and about this week, taking an autumnal stroll with the German beauty's brood. Hand-in-hand with Henry and Johan, Michael proved he is part of the family as the group wandered around LA.Since making their relationship with official, the German-born-model has spoken about her new-found happiness with Michael. Appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres chat show Heidi joyfully said "I'm very happy" and added in another interview that Michael had "been part of our family for the last four years. He's cared for our entire family, mostly for our four children, helped us tremendously. I trust him with my children's life. He's a great man and we just got to know each other from a completely different side."
