The races are well known for their ability to generate huge excitement amongst observers, and it seems that Amanda Holden is no exception to that rule.

Former Cutting It actress Amanda had a riot of a time as she attended the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury Racecourse on Saturday. The mum-of-two laughed her way through the day, and became engrossed in the action as she held up her binoculars to get a better look. The star looked chic as she wrapped up against the winter chill, and her fur-trimmed black cape, leather gloves and tartan hat brought a stylish touch to proceedings. Amanda's cheery outlook is no doubt related to the happy ending she has been gifted in 2012. Back in January, the Britain's Got Talent judge remained in a critical condition in hospital for three days after welcoming daughter Hollie Rose. Since that difficult delivery, things have settled into place and the star's home life is content with her eldest child Lexi and record producer partner, Chris Hughes.

Recently, Amanda even showed off little Hollie to help promote a charity campaign aiming to cut the number of newborns suffering from tetanus. On the work front, things have never been better after Amanda made a triumphant return to Britain's Got Talent following the drama of her child's birth. There were hugs and kisses all round as the 41-year-old was reunited with her fellow judges Alicia Dixon, David Walliams and Simon Cowell.  Amanda said of her return: "I am euphoric to be heading back to my place at the judges desk - to be honest after the last couple of weeks I'm euphoric to be anywhere." If the images from her day at the races are anything to go by, that lust for life is still very much present.

After enjoying the race, she posed happily for photographers and cuddled up to Mollie King, member of all-girl group, the Saturdays. TV personality Cilla Black and musical tsar Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber were also spotted chatting to Amanda. Elizabeth Hurley, meanwhile, provided some competition in the fashion stakes with an eye-catching electric blue coat and designer shades. She too couldn't resist a bit of a Blind Date with Scouse legend Cilla.
