Nicole Kidman showcased her award-winning beauty at the second Australian Academy Awards on Wednesday night. The glamorous actress went for some summer glamour for her appearance in Sydney, opting for a yellow and blue appliqué strapless gown. Completing her look with a chic chignon and nude heels, the Eyes Wide Shut star made for an enviable A-lister despite her hectic schedule, which required she fly back to Los Angeles just hours after the ceremony. With her strawberry blonde locks and alabaster skin, Nicole recently told Italian newspaper La Repubblica that natural beauty is the way forward.

Speaking frankly in an interview with the publication, the star said: "No surgery for me. I did try Botox, unfortunately, but I got out of it and now I can finally move my face again." She added: "I am completely natural. I wear sunscreen, I don't smoke and I take care of myself, and I'm proud to say that." The likes of Cate Blanchett, Gemma Arterton and Geoffrey Rush were also seen making their way down the red carpet to celebrate the film industry Down Under. Les Miserables actor Russell Crowe also added his star power to proceedings as the host for the night's festivities.

Australia's other screen queen, Cate Blanchett, decided to strike a more vibrant note than her acting companion with a striking red fishtail dress. The innovative number called for a simple sweep of highlighter and a chic bun, ensuring all eyes were on her vibrant sequinned gown. The internationally-acclaimed musical The Sapphires was the biggest winner on the night. Starring Irish heartthrob Chris O'Dowd, the picture tells the tale of the eponymously-named Aboriginal girl group who entertained troops in the Vietnam War. The box office hit swept the awards stakes, securing six gongs, which included a Best Actor title for Chris.
