Kate Winslet to receive Hollywood Walk of Fame star

Kate Winslet  is to be honoured with a star on Tinseltown's most famous pavement — the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Her career has spanned almost 25 years and in that time, Kate has scooped one Oscar, two Golden Globes, two BAFTAs and several other awards.

The British actress will be presented with the accolade by Titanic director James Cameron and her former co-star Kathy Bates, who played the straight-talking Molly Brown in the 1997 drama, according to Hollywood.com.

"We are so happy that Kate Winslet will be here on our famous Boulevard of dreams receiving her well-deserved star," said Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies.

"We've seen Kate shine in her roles and fans around the world have been anxiously waiting for this special day to come.

"The 38-year-old actress will travel stateside where she will be presented with the star outside the W Hollywood Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard, next Monday 17 March.Kate, who will be the 2,520th star to receive the honour, is the latest in a very long line of actors and actresses. She follows on from Julianne Moore and Glee's Jane Lynch who have also recently been added to the iconic walk.

It was first reported that Kate would receive a star in 2012. Her role in The Reader won her the most awards for one film, with Kate taking home an Oscar for Best Actress, a BAFTA for Best Leading Actress and a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress.

The mother-of-three has been married to Ned Rocknroll, the nephew of Virgin billionaire Richard Branson, for just over a year. The couple welcomed their first child, and Kate's third, last December — baby son Bear.

Kate has two teenage children, Mia and Joe, from her previous marriages to film director Jim Threapleton and stage and film director Sam Mendes, respectively.

The curse of the Academy Awards? Oscar-winning celebrities who have ended their romance. 

The Berkshire-born star has previously spoken out, saying she was "baffled" at the criticism she has received for her past relationships.

"It's very easy to be judgmental until you know someone’s truth," she said. "People have no idea at all."
