Among the reportedly 70 friends and family attending the ceremony were close friends of Ms Scott from the fashion industry and her company, including her long-time assistant, Brittany Penebre, who discovered her employer’s body.

L’Wren’s long-term partner Mick Jagger was accompanied to the funeral by his children and his grand-daughter Amba Jackson, Jade’s daughter.

L’Wren’s body had been flown from Manhattan to Los Angeles earlier this week, as Mick, who was staying at the California home of his eldest daughter Karis, made arrangements with L'Wren's brother Randall Bambrough.

The American designer was found dead in her New York apartment last week.

Mick and L’Wren met in 2001 on a photoshoot. They were quickly inseparable, and reports that suggested L’Wren was not fully accepted in the Jagger clan have been soundly rejected.

Mick and the Rolling Stones cancelled their Australian tour when they heard the news, and Mick has spent the last week at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

The 49-year-old was found by her assistant inside the Eighth Floor apartment around 10am New York time, and there was no suspicion of foul play.
