Sir Tom Jones has revealed he is in talks to have his greatest hits turned into a musical. The Voice UK judge, who is famed for producing popular songs It's Not Unusual, Green, Green Grass of Home and Delilah, opened up about the exciting new project which has already started production. He told The Sun: "I can't tell you what it is but there is an idea, a play based on my music. It's in the early stages, so we'll listen and see what it is. It will have to be good and it will have to be real, rather than just doing something for the sake of doing it. It must be important." He added: "I might go on stage, I don’t know. Maybe."

Sir Tom rose to fame in the 1960s, scoring his first UK number one in 1965 for It's Not Unusual. He went on to sell more than 100 million records around the world throughout his career. In recent years, the star has become a prominent feature on The Voice UK as a coach. After his three-year stint on the then-BBC series, the musician spent some time away from the spotlight after his wife Linda passed away following a short battle with cancer last April. He has since reprised his role as a coach on The Voice after its move to ITV - something he says is a welcome distraction from his grief.

STORY: Sir Tom credits music for 'saving' him after death of his wife

"I've got back on the stage. That first step was a big one. Now I realise music is saving my life," he told The Sun, before adding: "When my wife passed away I didn't know if I would be able to sing again. It was devastating. The busier I am, the better I feel. Thank god I've got a chance to come back and prove I really belong on this show." Following his wife's death, Sir Tom opened up about how he dealt with his grief. Speaking at the Hay Festival last year, he revealed: "It's very difficult, the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. We were married for 59 years, we knew each other since we were kids. It was fast, she had cancer." The entertainer added: "I realise even more now, how important she was to me."
