Gwyneth Paltrow's gluten-free cookbook will make you 'look and feel great'

Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow beams from the cover of her second cookbook, looking make-up free with her blonde natural waves reaching her shoulders. It's All Good promises to make you 'look and feel great' as well as give you energy and is expected to hit shelves in April.

It promotes an "elimination diet" following a health scare the star recently suffered, initially thinking she'd had a stroke. Doctors later diagnosed Gwyneth as severely anaemic and vitamin D-deficient with high levels of stress, and banned her from eating eggs, sugar, shellfish, deepwater fish, potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers, eggplant, corn, wheat, meat and drinking coffee for three weeks.

Worried that food would no longer be tasty and exciting, the self-professed avid foodie, 40, decided to put together a second cookbook – her first, My Father's Daughter, was a huge success in 2011 – so joined forces with food writer Julia Turshen to compile a collection of recipes that adhered to her new diet guidelines.

Putting the fun back into food, the Iron Man actress's cuisine tome features 185 recipes, which include huevos rancheros, hummus tartine with scallion-mint pesto, salmon burgers with pickled ginger, and even chocolate brownies with banana ice cream.

Gwyneth devotes an entire chapter to grains, but remains deeply skeptical about them. "Every single nutritionist, doctor and health-conscious person I have ever come across…seems to concur that (gluten) is tough on the system and many of us are at best intolerant of it, and at worst allergic to it," she says.

All of the recipes featured in the lifestyle guru's latest achievement are 'for the foods she eats when she wants to lose weight, look good, and feel more energetic', according to the blurb on Amazon. But the recipes are apparently family-friendly, as Gwyneth decided to have her husband Chris Martin, daughter Apple, eight, and Moses, six, tested for allergies and reveals that "everyone in my house is intolerant of gluten, dairy, chicken's eggs, among many other surprising foods".

The svelte beauty, who has openly spoken out about her love of cooking hearty meals, already has a number of strings to her professional bow. Along with being an Oscar-winning actress, she started her own online lifestyle publication Goop in 2008 'to share all of life's positives', providing readers exclusive access to recipes and wellness tips as well as travel guides and fashion.
