London leads the way in the Michelin Guide 2018, with an impressive 70 Michelin Star restaurants within the capital. Six London restaurants gained one star in the guide, which was released on Monday, while sushi bar The Araki has become the fifth restaurant in the UK to win the top accolade of three Michelin stars.

There are now three restaurants in the capital that have received the honour; Gordon Ramsay's Royal Hospital Road restaurant and Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester have each retained their three stars in the new guide. To coincide with the release of the 2018 guide, we've rounded up the best two and three star restaurants in London for fine dining from some of the UK's most celebrated chefs.

London's three Michelin Star restaurants:

1) The Araki

Located just off Regent Street, The Araki is a Japanese restaurant opened by Mitsuhiro Araki. It is the first Japanese restaurant to receive the honour in the UK, and is truly exclusive, with only nine seats. There is also only one set menu, the omakase sushi menu, which costs £300 per person.

Michael Ellis, the international director of the Michelin guides, said: "With its nine-seater counter, The Araki has gone from strength to strength. When Mitsuhiro Araki moved to London from Tokyo in 2014 he set himself the challenge of using largely European fish and his sushi is now simply sublime."

2) Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester

Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester in Park Lane has also retained its three stars under chef Jean-Phillippe Blondet, who took over in 2016. The restaurant serves modern and seasonal French cuisine, with the three-course A La Carte menu available for £100 or the seven course tasting menu costing £140.

3) Restaurant Gordon Ramsay

Celebrity chef Gordon's eponymous restaurant retained its three Michelin star status in the 2018 guide. The flagship serves French cuisine with dishes such as foie gras and suckling pig on the menu. A three-course dinner will set you back £110.
