Lily's star shines bright in Singapore

Flame-haired model Lily Cole has been bringing her brand of pre-Raphaelite beauty to Asia with an appearance at the Singapore Fashion Festival. On the extravaganza's opening day the British catwalk star strutted out under the lights in a creation by Jean Paul Gaultier.

Lily had been invited to do the honours as "the face" of the fledgling event, which launched in 2001, and this year features shows by Missoni, Calvin Klein and Diane von Furstenberg.

It's not only the distinctive fiery mane that makes the ravishing 17-year-old such hot property. Apart from having graced the cover of Vogue and modelled for the likes of Alexander McQueen and John Galliano, Lily is due to star in her first film.

King of shock rock Marilyn Manson has asked her to be his Alice in Phantasmagoria, an interpretation of Lewis Carroll's Alice In Wonderland.

Despite taking the fashion world by storm since her debut at the age of 14, the elfin-faced youngster remains modest. Asked about following the trail blazed by Kate Moss, Lily refused to compare herself to the style icon. "Kate's had such a phenomenal career and I wouldn’t even like to compare myself to her,” she declared.

Commenting on the troubles that have dogged the original poster girl for the "waif" look, Lily defended her fellow model, arguing that Kate "signed her face away, she didn't sign her life away". She added: "Fashion loves Kate. I think she's cool and she's going to make it through."
