The first couple to leave Strictly Come Dancing are Ola Jordan and her celebrity partner Iwan Thomas, it was announced on Sunday night. The pair faced Jamelia and her partner Tristan MacManus in the dreaded dance-off, but in the end, the four judges chose to save the See It In A Boy's Eyes singer.

Ola and Olympic medallist Iwan did their Cha Cha to Sexy and I Know It by LMFAO while Jamelia and Tristan did their Cha Cha to Don't Cha by the Pussycat Dolls.

After both couples had danced the second time, the judges delivered their verdicts.

"This couple danced much better than the other couple: I save Jamelia and Tristan," said Craig Revel Horwood.

Fellow judges Darcey Bussell and Bruno Tonioli agreed; with three unanimous votes, they were safely through to next week. Head Judge Len Goodman told Tess Daly that he agreed with his colleagues' decision and would have sent Ola and Iwan home.

Reflecting back on the results of Sunday night's show, Iwan said: "I've loved every minute of it! Thank you judges and to the contestants, you have all been so nice and I'm going to miss you all! I don't want to go home!"

To his professional partner Ola, the 41-year-old sports commentator added: "I've loved training with you, it has been amazing. Believe or not, I was getting slightly better each day!"

Ola returned her student's praise, saying: "I have absolutely loved dancing with you, you are a wonderful person and I am sorry it finished so early."

On Saturday night's show, the fifteen couples all danced in a bid to impress the four judges and millions of viewers at home. Their scores were combined with the points they had gained from the first week of live shows, when no one was eliminated from the competition.

Strictly returns on Saturday at 6:20pm on BBC One, with the results show the following day at 7:15pm. Next week is the first themed week as Hollywood Glamour will take over the ballroom and the couples tackle hits from classic films in a Movie Week special.
