We've all felt the pain of arriving at the London Underground barriers only to realise you've left your Oyster card at home. Thankfully however, student Lucie Davis has come up with a stylish solution – a set of acrylic nails that double up as a working Oyster card.

This manicure doubles up as an Oyster card

The 22-year-old created the innovative manicure by removing the RFID chip – the chip which processes the payment when you tap in and out of the barriers - from her Oyster card and placing it into the nails.

Lucie, who is studying jewellery design at Central Saint Martins, also paid tribute to the original card by painting the nails in its iconic blue, black and white striped design.

Her designs were first unveiled at the Central Saint Martins degree show, prompting Lucie to take to Instagram to give her followers a sneak peek of her final project. Posting a series of photos of the nails, she also shared a video of someone using the manicure during their commute to prove that it could work.

Lucie shared a video showing the manicure in action

In one caption accompanying the snaps, Lucie explained that she first came up with the idea for the nails when her class was given their final project – to create something "inspired by engaging with our daily surroundings".

In a separate caption she also revealed how the nail kit could revolutionise commuters' journeys, writing: "The Central Saint Martins degree show opens next Wednesday to the public! Come and see my Oyster card acrylic nails in action for touching in and out...because with the RFID chip at your fingertip it's the fastest way to #csmloading #jewellerydesign #contactless #nailart #luciedavis #dailyinteraction #everydayvalue #finalcollection #ahhh."
