The Duchess of Cambridge has become something of a hair icon, with beauty fans all over the world desperate to emulate her perfectly styled locks. Now one of her style secrets has been revealed - and it costs less than £1! Kate uses a hairnet to help keep her tresses in place when she opts for elegant updos, using one that matches the colour of her chocolate brown hair to ensure it is virtually invisible to onlookers. And it's easy for royal watchers to follow in her footsteps; hairnets can be picked up in cosmetics store and hair wholesales everywhere – Superdrug even sell a pack of two for £1.09

Duchess Kate often perfects her up do's with a hair net

On the four-day, whistle-stop royal tour of Sweden and Norway last week, Kate's stunning mane was a talking point amongst bloggers; despite the freezing conditions, her curls remained intact and looked incredibly sleek. Ahead of the tour, Kate's hairdresser shared a picture of the mother-of-two's beauty bag, which was filled with an abundance of high-tech tools and brushes.

Two hair dryers were part of the set, as well as three different sets of hair curlers that are used to create Kate's enviable, glossy waves. Amanda Cook Tucker - the lady behind the pregnant royal's glossy look - had an extensive selection of eight round blow dry hairbrushes and five paddle brushes, including the Mason Pearson Handy Bristle & Nylon hairbrush, as well as a whopping seven combs! A can of L'Oréal's iconic Elnett hairspray was also pictured, which would offer the perfect finishing touch.
