Charlie’s Angels star Lucy Liu has just given us a proper shock - she looks completely different! The actress, who now stars in the popular TV show Elementary, has undergone a massive hair transformation, switching from brunette to blonde. The 49-year-old arrived at the Obie Awards on Monday with a new blonde hairstyle, and the Internet freaked out.

Do blondes have more fun? Ask Lucy Liu!

According to PopSugar the hair colour switch-up took NINE hours to create and needed FOUR rounds of bleach. Gosh, that is a long time to spend in the hair stylist’s chair. The brains behind the look is Victoria Hunter at Whittmore House Salon in New York. The stylist told the website: "Lucy thought she'd have to cut her hair short if she wanted to go blonde … If I used normal bleach, her hair would probably have ended up on the floor."

Instead of regular bleach, the stylist used her own hair paint which is a clay lightener. "It treats, strengthens, and protects the hair at the same time that it's lightening it," she said.

For those who don’t know, hair painting is “a modern version of highlighting the hair,” the stylist explained. “People do use foil, but it’s not the modern way of highlighting the hair anymore.”

Along with her her assistant, Douglas Cornwall, they painted Lucy’s hair to “put more dimension into the hair and make it look natural, rather than just all the one colour blonde."

She continued: “When you're working with Asian hair, you have to treat it very differently than Caucasian hair, because it's much more coarse and thick."

What do you think of the look? Do you like Lucy's new blonde hair colour?
