Gisele Bundchen is known for her ability to pull off just about any fashion or beauty trend. But one hairstyle the Brazilian model falls back on time and time again is the tousled ponytail, a look which she rocked at the recent Met Gala in New York. Head of Creative at ego Professional, Kala Kilshaw, explains that Gisele's signature look is fairly simple to pull off with just a little preparation...

She recommends spritzing a little volumising spray on the roots of damp hair and combing through, before sectioning the hair to make blow drying easier. Using a hairdryer such as ego Professional's Smart Ego Touch Display Hairdryer, switch it to a cool/warm air setting, and proceed to dry the strands in an upwards direction, to help create volume.

“Always dry roots to ends once the hair is 70 per cent dry and cool shot each section to fix the extra body you've created,” she told Cover Media, adding, “Don't smooth the ends too much as you want them to remain tousled.”

To create a voluminous ponytail like Gisele's, ditch the hairbrush and create texture by using your hands. Make sure your fingers are dry and product-free before dragging them through the middle and roots of the hair, going on to pull the tresses to the crown area before securing with a snag-free band. “Split the pony in two and pull tight, as this creates that undone done look. Add some volumising mousse to the ponytail and scrunch it in. Leave it to dry,” advised Kala.

To finish the look, spray on a little aerosol-free hairspray, such as TRESemme 4+4 Ultra Fine Hairspray or L'Oreal Professionnel's Tecni.
