It's been almost eight years since Joe McElderry won series six of The X Factor, and he has undergone quite a transformation in that time! This week, the singer took to Instagram to share a brand new photo with fans, and bowled them over with his chiselled jawline and handsome appearance. The 25-year-old looks almost unrecognisable in the snapshot, which seems him posing for a selfie in a grey turtleneck jumper. "Wow! Looking hot!" one fan remarked, with another commenting: "Beautiful photo of you Joe x." A third simply pleaded: "Marry me!"

The new photo comes a few weeks after Joe posed in just a loincloth while in his dressing room backstage on the production of the musical Joseph. It made a big impression on fans, not least because Joe found himself on the receiving end of unkind comments about his weight in 2015, following an appearance on Lorraine. Speaking about the experience while on Loose Women in January this year, Joe admitted he found it especially upsetting because of the message it sent to young fans.

"I wasn't bothered… it was more just about the way it was worded for young kids and other people," he explained. "I never promote anything apart from being healthy and fit. That is my message. Doesn't matter what shape or size you are. I don't do diets, I eat loads of good healthy food, and I think that's the important thing. This whole body shaming thing is just ridiculous. It's gone beyond a joke now. I can take it, it's part of my job to get scrutinised about what you're doing. For me it's not a big deal, but for people reading these things it's not a good message to send."
