For many people, Christmas means a party every night. But when your schedule is that busy – how do you keep yourself looking bright-eyed and bushy-tailed? We spoke to some of the UK's most in-demand beauty experts and asked for their best make-up tips to wake you up.

"When you wake up, the first thing you need to do is cool those babies down!" Denise Rabor, international celebrity make-up artist and founder of WOW Beauty, told us. "Simply place cucumber slices on each eye to refresh them and give them a boost. To reduce the puffiness underneath your eyes, try dampening two tea bags with lukewarm water and place on your eyes. The caffeine in the tea bag will work to de-puff your eyes while the antioxidants in the tea leaves will work to reduce swelling and tighten the skin around the eyes."

The next step is using a "concentrated moisturiser" which will hydrate the skin around the eyes, and a heavy duty concealer to “hide those pesky red blotches and dark circles that appear after a night of heavy partying". Colour correcting is vital here – use a yellow shade if you have light skin and an orange shade if you have darker skin. "Dab a little of it around the under-eye area before applying your foundation as normal," Denise said.

Next up, Denise advises curling your eyelashes, if you've got the energy, before layering on lashings of mascara. "If you have dark eyes use a navy blue mascara to brighten the eyes," she advised. Stacey Whittaker, award-winning Scottish make-up artist and founder of Pouts & Pin Ups Salon, also had some other tips for opening up the eyes.

"Apply a white eyeliner on your waterline, this is one of the best ways to disguise red eyes as the neutral colour will help the whites of your eyes appear whiter and reduce any redness," she explained. "The next step would be to dot three drops of your favourite liquid highlighter on the tear duct, brow bone and centre of the lids to redirect dark shadows and make you look instantly more awake."
