Emma Willis shared her backstage beauty secrets ahead of the BRITs

"Head-to-toe it takes me two hours to get ready," she said. "One hour for styling, then another hour for hair and make-up – my make-up artist is a true perfectionist so this usually takes up most of the time." Emma also revealed that she has learned some valuable beauty lessons during her years in front of the camera. "The biggest thing I have learnt is not to overdo make-up – less is more," Emma said. "I used to always go for a heavier eye and nude lip but now I quite like a cleaner eye and a bolder lip – I never do both though."

Emma looked incredible in a black Alexander McQueen gown with a jewel embellished neckline for her debut as BRITs co-host alongside Dermot O'Leary. However The Voice host said she likes to have some back up outfits on hand to suit her mood on the day. "I always like to have a few wardrobe options to try to see what I feel best in on the day and so preparation is key – it could be trousers, a dress, or I do love a skirt and top, so I have to be prepared," she said.

So what beauty products did Emma use to prepare for the event? As an ambassador for Gillette Venus Beauty, it's no wonder the mum-of-three had the brands Venus Snap Cosmo in her beauty kit. Emma used Lancôme Hydra Zen Neurocalm moisturiser (£39.99), before applying Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base (£35) on her skin. Dr PawPaw original balm (£6.95) was also one of Emma's beauty essentials, along with Max Factor Luxe Collections Masterpiece Mascara (£9.99) and Fleur De Force by Eylure false lashes (£5.25). Emma highlighted her pout with a pink MAC Patent Polish Lip Pencil (£18) and co-ordinating pink Orly nail polish.
