Their little boy recently showed off his own football skills when he appeared in a charity video kicking a ball encouraged by his proud mother.
The Hips Don't Lie singer added that he has completely changed her outlook. "Everything is different," she said. "Maybe the biggest change is that I think about the future more, what the world will be like for him when he grows up."
Shakira made the comments in an interview with Ocean Drive magazine, in which she also spoke about her "beautiful relationship" with her sportsman boyfriend.
The singer said that "the balance of power is equal" between her and Gerard, 27, adding: "Relationships have to have a give and take if they're going to work in the long term."

Shakira made headlines when she said her sizzling duet with Rihanna had come about because of Gerard. "He's very territorial, and since he no longer lets me do videos with men, well, I have to do them with women," she said.
Later the Latina bombshell explained that she was joking.
"It's funny, when I made those comments, it was really in a lighthearted, humorous way," she said. "I was surprised to see that it was taken so seriously in the press."
"Gerard doesn't tell me what to do," she continued. "We discuss everything as a couple, as I imagine most partners do. We have a beautiful relationship and one of mutual trust."
