1. Face and body masks – the superheroes your skin needs. Re-condition your skin with a warm creamy body mask to soothe and heal.
When you apply a facial mask, take time out for yourself: put on some relaxing music, sit down and close your eyes for fifteen minutes to give the product time to do its work while your mind unwinds. (Do remember to read and follow the product instructions about timing!)
If you're willing to fork out for your face mask, opt for the ultra-luxurious and super enriching Creme de la Mer Hydrating Facial Mask, £180, which treats the skin to a spa-like experience.
If your budget doesn't stretch that far, try the Manuka Doctor - Bee Venom Rejuvenating Face Mask, £49.99. Containing purified bee venom, it penetrates skin to provide a renewal treatment of damaged skin cells.
2. Cleanse and moisturise. Whether you bath of shower, use a gentle cleanser - we recommend the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser, £12.25 - to wash away impurities from the skin. Make sure to finish off with your favourite moisturiser.
3. Detox inside and out. Swap alcohol for water, and treat your skin to water on the outside, too, combined with a detox product.
Try a body scrub or use a bath mitt, to stimulate circulation and eliminate toxins. While you're at in the bath, it's a good time to apply a face mask, as the steam will make it work better.
After bathing, massage in an all-over moisturiser as this will both nourish your skin and help with circulation and de-stressing. We like the Naked Coco de Mer Body Butter, £5.45, whose creamy coconut extract leaves skin moisturised for 24 hours.
5. Pamper your feet. Your feet may not be on show in the winter, but they're still important, so give them a rest and a massage. Use a moisturising cream and pop some warm socks on overnight to complete the healing process.
