Think of cosmetics store Lush and you think bright fizzy bath bombs and beautiful handmade soaps made from natural ingredients. It's maybe not the first place you'd look for an eczema cream – but you'd be wrong. The shop is causing something of a stir with its Dream Cream body lotion which retails at just £6.95. Sales of the lotion are up by 184% in America, after a mother's Facebook post about the cream went viral.

The mum wrote: "Nothing we were prescribed worked, even hydrocortisone cream didn't touch it. Tried dairy free formula, Dermol, Nizarol, Aveeno, Oilatum.... nothing made a difference." The cream then sold out with shoppers rushing to buy the wonder product, but Lush has since restocked.

The Dream Cream contains a combination of oat milk, rose water, chamomile, cocoa butter and olive oil amongst other natural ingredients and safe synthetics. One customer posted on the company's website: "I love dream cream, it's very lightweight and definitely suitable for the most sensitive of skin. Always leaves my skin smelling lovely and feeling hydrated. I even use this on my toddler :)."

On Lush's Facebook page, there are more rave reviews for the cream. One follower wrote: "This is the only lotion that calms my husband’s eczema as well! He cannot be without it!" Another shopper said: "Have always loved Dream Cream; that, and Ultrabalm keep my eczema in check nicely. Also lovely as an aftersun treat." On the company's Instagram page, one mum posted: "It's REALLY good for eczema. My little one had it all over her belly and I was nervous about putting different creams on her. Nothing worked but this stuff, it’s magical!"

Lush also sell a Self-Preserving version of their Dream Cream for £13.95, which they explain "keeps itself clean without the use of synthetic preservatives." It achieves this by using increased quantities of glycerine, extra virgin olive oil and cocoa butter. We have to buy this cream.
