John Partridge - Biography
Actor and dancer
Born: July 24, 1971
Famous for: Ruffling feathers in Walford Square as 'EastEnders' first ever gay character Christian Clarke
After carving out a distinguished career in West End musicals, John Partridge kick-started his small screen CV in 2008 in spectacular style by landing a part in EastEnders. It was a change the Lancashire-born actor admits was at first daunting. "I'm slightly terrified when I come into work every day. It's an enormous machine," he said at the time. His only TV acting experience prior to his arrival in Walford Square was a cameo in comedy sitcom Game On. Aside from acting, John's big passion is dance. He trained as a ballet dancer and at 17 joined the original tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats. He also appeared in West End and Berlin productions of the show, learning German for the latter. Other musical outing include Miss Siagon, Grease and Starlight Express. Dancing in the 1992 video for U2's Real Thing sparked an interest in the music industry and, in addition to performing with his own band, he worked as a backing singer with artists such as The Pet Shop Boys, Kim Wilde and Neneh Cherry.
