Sophie Ellis-Bextor shot to fame in the pop charts, with hits such as Take Me Home and Murder On The Dancefloor and since then the brunette beauty has starred in Strictly Come Dancing, coming fourth with professional Brendan Cole.

Sophie and her husband Richard Jones (band member of The Feeling) first met in 2002, and they went on to marry in 2005. The couple now have five children together.

The star has admitted that Strictly did have a negative impact on her marriage. Speaking to The Independent, she said: "For all the glitter and sequins and stagecraft it taught me, I had to pay quite a heavy price, and Richard, too… Richard started to struggle with my involvement from the launch show onwards.

"It was so hard for him that I can remember wondering if they’d ever had a contestant walk away from the show before they’d even danced their first dance."

Speaking about being a busy working mum, Sophie told radio host Chris Evans: "The album will come out around the same time as my fifth infant, because I'm having my fifth baby," she confirmed. "Because I'm mental." When asked if parenthood gets "easier", she replied: "No, I don't think it does. But I think you get more relaxed with the chaos."

The hitmaker resides in London with her husband and children in a beautiful family abode. It's a rainbow haven of wonder and in a HELLO! interview, Sophie said: "I've no qualms about putting who I am into interior form. I'm a maximalist. I love bright colours and have never been afraid to use them. If I see a colour I like, it gives me a rush of endorphins. Having a home that sings to me puts me in a good mood."

Sophie was born in West London to mum Janet Ellis, a former Blue Peter presenter, and filmmaker Robin Bextor, on 10 April 1979. As a teen, Sophie who attended St Stephen's school in Twickenham followed by Godolphin and Latymer in Hammersmith - became passionate about Britpop. "My schoolbooks were covered with montages of Blur and Pulp," she said.

Sophie had a tattoo inked especially for her wedding with the word 'Family' printed in a giant sailor's heart because, she says, "It's something I believe in".
