Tobias' star has been on the rise since he graduated from RADA in 1998. The London-born actor began his career with parts in Foyle's War, Midsomer Murders and Casualty, while also working extensively on the stage. He earned particular praise from the theatre critics for his role as young teacher Irwin in Alan Bennett's The History Boys. A role in a London production of As You Desire Me led to a romance with co-star Kristin Scott Thomas in 2006 and, until they parted ways, the pair attracted considerable press attention. He made column inches again, this time for professional reasons, with his starring role as Marcus Junius Brutus in the HBO/BBC epic series Rome - which won him fans on both sides of the Atlantic. Other notable credits include the character of Villiers, M's assistant, in Casino Royale, and as William Elliot in a 2007 TV adaptation of Jane Austen's classic novel Persuasion.
