The expectant royal looked lovely in the same Diane von Furstenberg dress she wore to a Kensington Palace gala in support of the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families earlier this month. To complement her go-to gown, the mother of two borrowed a special necklace from Her Majesty’s jewelry box.
The necklace is rich in royal history! The Queen commissioned the statement necklace out of pearls she received as a gift from the Japanese government. While the monarch has only shown off the four-strand piece on a few occasions, it had a particularly royal moment in 1982 when Princess Diana wore it while on tour in the Netherlands.
The piece features four rows of stunning pearls with a central diamond curved clasp, topped off with three rows of diamonds. At the top and bottom of the clasp are two large marquise diamonds.
This is the second time this month that Kate stepped out wearing jewels on loan from her grandmother-in-law. The 35-year-old wore the Queen's Diamond pendant earrings to a gala at Kensington Palace on Nov 7.
The Queen and Prince Philip celebrated their 70 th wedding anniversary with a quiet dinner surrounded by their family. To mark the couple’s milestone, Buckingham Palace released four new portraits. The portraits, taken by Matt Holyoak of Camera Press earlier this month, show Her Majesty, 91, and the Duke of Edinburgh, 96, posing against a platinum-textured background. The monarch looks lovely in a cream day dress by Angela Kelly and her Scarab brooch pinned to her chest; the brooch, in yellow gold, carved ruby and diamond, was a personal gift from the Duke to the Queen in 1966.
