Camilla all smiles at charity event

Having stepped out of the limelight since last week's high profile appearance alongside Prince Charles at London's glitzy Fashion Rocks charity gig, Camilla Parker Bowles reemerged on Wednesday to fulfill another of her philanthropic duties.

Despite the storm of controversy over former royal butler Paul Burrell's new book, in which he reveals a series of intimate letters from Charles' late wife Princess Diana, Camilla seemed unaffected as she opened a new osteoporosis research centre in Oxford.

The 56-year-old divorcée, who is president of the National Osteoporosis Society, chose a strikingly upbeat outfit for the occasion – a cranberry-coloured fitted suit, black scarf and black high heels – and was full of smiles upon her arrival.

Mrs Parker Bowles has remained on the fringe of the Princess Diana issue since news of Burrell's bombshell book broke this week. Notes from the late Princess, as well as the contents of correspondence written by Prince Philip and Earl Spencer, are revealed in the tell-all, exposing the private thoughts of the royal family and causing a firestorm in the international press.
