Prince Harry to tour America in May

Prince Harry will travel to the US in May for a week-long tour which will focus on promoting the rehabilitation of injured American and British troops as well as publicising his own charities. "He is a soldiers' soldier and will bring a spotlight on what's being done to help these outstanding men and women," said Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, his private secretary.

His second solo foreign tour will focus on highlighting the plight of injured servicemen and women and the efforts underway to rehabilitate them. Harry's visit will take in several locations between 9 and 15 May. He is scheduled to travel to destinations including Washington DC, Denver, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. It is his first visit to the States since photos which showed him naked in a Las Vegas hotel suite caused a stir around the globe as they were published online. While in New Jersey, the 28-year-old prince will meet survivors of the devastating Hurricane Sandy. In Colorado Springs he will watch the opening ceremony of the Warrior Games where injured servicemen and women will compete. It is the first time that Britain will compete in the Paralympic-style competition. Harry, who met competitors last year, is known to be a big fan of the event and its cause. While in New York Harry will support the Great Campaign, a Government initiative which promotes the UK around the world on the back of the success of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympics.

Harry will also attend a baseball event in the Big Apple as he promotes a sports programme involving his Royal Foundation. The tour will culminate in a Connecticut polo match in aid of his charity Sentebale. The St. Regis polo match will raise funds for the charity which supports orphans and vulnerable children in Lesotho. Prince Harry will captain the Sentebale Land Rover Team and face off against Nacho Figueras, captaining the St. Regis team. The Prince's first solo tour as a representative of the Queen took him to the Caribbean. His visit made a lasting impression. The royal family's Prince Charming brought what his aides described as his "own brand of enthusiasm" to a trip to Belize marking the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, winning over young and old alike.  With just a little coaxing from his hosts, Prince Harry joined in the fun at a local street party, twirling one lady and then another around to the infectious Caribbean music.
