The Queen hopes royal baby arrives before she goes on holiday

The Queen has said she would like Prince William and Kate Middleton's royal baby to arrive soon because she is going on holiday.When asked if she would like her third great-granchild to be a little Prince or Princess, Her Majesty said "I don't really mind.""I hope it arrives soon because I'm going on holiday," she said.

As the world awaits the arrival of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's first child, the 87-year-old monarch visited Kendal, Cumbria with Princess Anne.Dressed in an emerald green outfit on one of the hottest days of the year, she was met by enthusiastic crowds including military servicemen and women, schoolchildren and families who had come out to welcome her.Meanwhile the media pens are filling up outside the Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington where Duchess Kate is due to give birth any day soon.As well as throngs of reporters and photographers from across the globe, lookalikes of Prince Harry and the Queen have been spotted in the area over the past few days.

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who celebrates her 66th birthday on 17 July, gave a strong hint as to when the royal baby might arrive on Monday. "We are all just waiting by the telephone ," she said on a visit to Cornwall. "We are hopeful that by the end of the week he or she will be here."

While an official date has never been revealed, Kate herself said that the little one was due in mid-July.

The Queen is most likely referring for her annual holiday to Balmoral Castle in Scotland. She traditionally holidays on the working estate with her family in August and September.
