The Duchess of Cornwall has admitted that she is a big fan of period drama Downton Abbey. It seems the royal's husband Prince Charles, however, was less of an avid viewer.

Camilla is a Downton Abbey fan unlike her husband Prince Charles

"Camilla loves Downton Abbey," Lesley told The Express. "We have spoken and she genuinely loves the show. "When I was talking to Prince Charles he had a slightly glazed look, although being very nice. Then somebody said, 'Sir, do you know Downton Abbey?' and he replied, 'Oh, I sort of come and go, really.' So I thought, 'I'm on a loser now,' but I think a lot of the royals do watch it." Apart from Camilla, her stepdaughter-in-law the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, and Prince William are also said to be fans of the show, which is set in a fictional Yorkshire country estate and follows the lives of the the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants.

Kate and Prince William are also said to love the period drama

Actress Jessica Rose Brown-Findlay, also known as Lady Sybil Crawley onscreen, has previously revealed that the couple loved the first series of Downton. "They said they'd watched the show and were excited to see the second series," said Jessica after meeting the royals at a Los Angeles party in 2011. "Prince William is very handsome and Kate is a gorgeous girl. They make a perfect couple. They seemed really at ease and so in love." William and Kate, both 32, have also admitted that they are avid viewers of The Great British Bake Off and The Apprentice.

Much like Camilla, Kate is also said to share a penchant for University Challenge with her stepmother-in-law. Strictly Come Dancing is another show that Camilla is said to religiously watch. Downton's fifth series is well underway and much likes it previous seasons, the show has been warmly received by fans. Hollywood heartthrob and newlywed George Clooney is set to take on a guest role in the Christmas special. While details have been shrouded in secrecy, what is known is that George charms the show's matriarch Dame Maggie Smith – who plays Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham – with a kiss and he also shares screen time with cast members Michelle Dockery and Hugh Bonneville.
