Queen Letizia of Spain charmed by young girl in Luxembourg

Queen Letizia of Spain may have left her two daughters at home for an official state visit to Luxembourg, but the elegant royal was charmed by another young girl as she touched down on Tuesday. Arriving at the Grand Ducal Palace, Letizia was approached by an adorable little girl carrying a bouquet of flowers. The elegant royal bent down to take her roses and greet the youngster, who was wrapped up in a bomber jacket and sported thick woollen stripey tights. King Felipe VI crouched down too, beaming away as he and his wife were given a warm welcome during their first state visit to Luxembourg as king and queen.

Earlier that morning the royal couple had been met at the airport by Prince Guillaume, the Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg, who was incidentally celebrating his 33rd birthday. The trio made their way to the palace where Guillaume's parents, Grand Duke Henri and Cuban-born Grand Duchess Maria Teresa were waiting, alongside Guillaume's wife Princess Stephanie.

Countess Stephanie de Lannoy and Queen Letizia scored high in the style stakes

While Stephanie, 30, looked chic in grey, Letizia, 42, once again scored high in the style stakes, flaunting one of her most beautiful outfits yet. Clearly dressed to impress on her first royal visit as queen, Letizia wore an elegant, cream frock that was decorated with a navy, paisley pattern and finished with a Peter Pan collar. The mum-of-two accessorised with pearl drop earrings, adding height to her petite figure with a pair of suede charcoal court heels.

After sitting down for a lavish lunch at the palace, Felipe and Letizia attended meetings with government officials in the afternoon. As their one-day tour came to an end, it was no rest for the Spanish royal couple as they jetted off to Brussels for their next state trip. On Wednesday morning the pair were met by King Philippe of the Belgians and his wife Queen Mathilde at the royal palace, where they reviewed a guard of honour during the official welcome ceremony.

Letizia opted for an altogether different look, this time channelling Olivia Palermo, by wearing an elegant up-do that featured a slightly loose braid tied into a low-key yet glamorous bun. The hairstyle seems to be a new favourite with the queen, as she chose the same style at a journalism awards event in Spain last week.
