With Princess Charlene due to give birth to twins any day now, Monaco's Prince Albert called upon his sister Stéphanie to be his plus one on the red carpet on Monday night. The 56-year-old sovereign left his heavily pregnant wife at home as he attended the Fight Aids Monaco Auction Sale at the Hotel Meridien. Fight AIDS Monaco is a personal project of Princess Stéphanie's and was launched to help people with HIV and AIDS lead normal lives without discrimination. The royal siblings smiled as they posed together on the red carpet, with Prince Albert planting a tender kiss on his sister's cheek as he arrived at the auction.

The princess later joined auctioneers on the stage to sell off some of the art which was donated by painters including Kenzo Takada, with all profits going towards AIDS victims. Prince Albert is said to be just days away from the birth of twin heirs with his wife of three years, Princess Charlene. Speaking in a rare interview, Albert told local paper Monaco Matin that the birth is imminent. "As it is a twin pregnancy the birth will surely take place a dozen days early," he said.

The Prince also revealed that he doesn't know the gender of the babies, as he asked his pregnant wife to keep it a secret. "The princess probably knows but she is playing the game," said the expectant father. "She is keeping the secret as I asked her to. "You know, one doesn't often have the opportunity to have such pleasant surprises in life. That is why I prefer not to know the babies' gender before the birth." The couple last appeared in public together as they posed with the Monaco royal family on Monaco day last month.
