King Willem-Alexander looked at ease as he navigated the slopes followed by his wife Máxima, who showed off her impressive skiing skills in a stylish red ski jacket and matching trousers.

The royal couple appeared as happy together as ever, just weeks after they celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary. They were joined by their three children - Princess Catharina-Amalia, 12, Princess Alexia, ten, and Princess Ariane, eight – who were all wrapped up in padded ski jackets for their day in the picture-perfect ski resort.

The young royals posed together happily for photos with their parents, before playfully starting a snowball fight. Princess Alexia appeared in high spirits as she created a snowball before throwing it as far as she could – much to the amusement of her sisters.

Willem-Alexander's mother Princess Beatrix also joined her family on the getaway. The doting grandmother has been keen to spend as much time as possible with her family since stepping down from the throne three years ago, and their bond was evident as she stood surrounded by her grandchildren for a photo.

The skiing holiday is an annual trip for the Dutch royals, and serves as a well-deserved break for Queen Máxima, who carried out a number of official engagements during a royal tour of Pakistan earlier this month.
