The Duchess of Cambridge has a knack for balancing royal duties with motherhood. Just hours before attending the Chelsea Flower Show on Monday with her husband Prince William, Kate was spotted bonding with the couple's adorable children Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Photos of the trio have surfaced on Twitter, showing Kate, 34, out and about with her brood. The Duchess was enjoying a sunny stroll in the gardens of Kensington Palace, just a few minutes' walk from her London base Apartment 1A.

As Kate pushed little Charlotte in her pram with one hand, she held onto George with the other.

Kate dressed down for her off-duty outing, wearing a full-length blue skirt and matching top. She wrapped a cream jumper around her shoulders and accessorised with a pair of sunglasses.

Kate and her children seemed to be accompanied by one protection officer, who held back and let the mum enjoy some private bonding time with her kids. According to onlookers, the friendly royal waved to passers-by as she strolled past.

Just a few hours later Kate was out again in the public eye, making her first official joint appearance at the Chelsea Flower Show alongside Prince William.

The couple were given a tour of the different exhibits and were particularly thrilled to see a new flower that has been named after their daughter Charlotte.

The pink and green Rossano Charlotte chrysanthemum is being sold for the first two years through Waitrose with part of the proceeds going towards East Anglia's Children's Hospice, a charity of which Kate is patron.

William asked where they were available and joked, "You could always steal one off the exhibit!"

Kate replied: "Waitrose are selling them!"

Clearly in a jovial mood the Prince asked Alison and John Peace from the Chrysanthemum Society if they could spell chrysanthemum. "I can't even say it," he laughed.

Kate asked, "Do you have a favourite? You don't have to be biased" while Prince Harry, who was also at the engagement, pointed at the centre of the display and joked, "What about the one that's in the middle?"
