After raising an estimated £10 million for charity in the exhibition featuring that wedding dress, the Duke and Duchess have done it again. The royal couple were guests of honour at a fundraising gala evening at St James's Palace on Thursday, which raised a whooping £675,000 for the Child Bereavement Charity.Kate stole the show in a stunning red floor-length red dress by Beulah London - reminiscent of the scarlet gown recently worn by her sister Pippa - whilst her husband was dapper in a tuxedo.

The black-tie do was hosted by the 100 Women in Hedge Funds.

All profits from the event were donated to the Child Bereavement Charity – a cause understandably close to William's heart.

In January 2010, he became patron of the WHF's philanthropic initiatives for a three-year period.

And the organisation has focused its UK fundraising work on three of his chosen charities, devoting a year to each.

In 2010, it raised money for Centrepoint, with a similar gala generating almost £500,000 for the homeless charity.

This year it is focused on the Child Bereavement Charity, and education NGO Skill Force will benefit in 2012.

Speaking at the event, William said he felt a "quiet pride" in what the two organisations had achieved. "What you are both doing together to alleviate the suffering of children who have lost family members, and bereaved families who have experience the tragedy of losing a child, is beyond praise," he said.Thursday's event was Kate's first since announcing that she has become the patron of the foundation set up by William and his brother Harry. This marks a first royal patronage for the Duchess, 29, and a likely name change for the foundation which is named after Prince Charles' sons.
