An anxious and nervous Prince William has visited his pregnant wife The Duchess of Cambridge for a second time. The Queen's grandson was photographed on Tuesday arriving at King Edward VII Hospital in central London, where she is being treated for acute morning sickness.Kate was said to be 'responding well to treatment' after spending a second day in hospital. On Monday night, dressed casually in a grey jumper and a shirt, the Prince departed the hospital around 8.15pm and did not respond to any questions made by the dozens of camera crews and photographers that were gathered outside.

He was then driven back to Kensington Palace by his royal protection officers in a green Land Rover. The Duke of Cambridge had been at his wife's side for most of the day before returning to visit her on Tuesday. The Duchess fell ill over the weekend while staying with her parents in Bucklebury, Berks. The royal couple declined the offer of an ambulance and drove themselves to the London hospital where Prince Philip was hospitalised earlier this year. Upon their arrival, Kate, 30, was immediately put on a drip to stop her becoming dehydrated. The future parents had not intended to go public with the happy news until she was at least 12 weeks pregnant, but they were forced to do so due to her long hospital stay. The statement issued by Clarence House simply read: "Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that the Duchess is expecting a baby. the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news.

"The Duchess was admitted this afternoon to King Edward VII Hospital in Central London with Hyperemesis Gravidarum. As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter." Despite the excitement being generated, the world will have to wait for its first glimpse of the expectant Duchess, as she is expected to stay in hospital for several days, requiring a further period of rest once discharged. The future Queen has now cancelled her next three engagements in order to fully recover. Already one of the most photographed women in the world, Kate's growing tummy will be the focus of much interest once she is back on her feet again. And her maternity fashion will no doubt be closely followed by fans of her trend-setting style.Confirmation of the royal couple's happy news comes after intense whispers that the Windsors were protecting something special, and in this week's issue, HELLO! Magazine correctly predicted what the world has been waiting for.

The Duke himself sparked speculation during a recent visit to Cambridge when he accepted a baby romper suit from a well-wisher. Mum Samantha Hill handed the royal a pale-blue baby suit which bore a little helicopter on the front and the message "Daddy's little co-pilot". Accepting the gift, William beamed and said: "I'll keep that."
