Prince Charles shares family worry with guests at Military Awards

Speaking to a room of military heroes and their families at The Sun's Military Awards, Prince Charles spoke of their shared worry of having a loved one at war. The grandfather-to-be told guests he "really understands" the heartache and they are all going through having seen both his sons join the forces.The Prince showed he is just another concerned parent saying "the younger one is at this moment in Afghanistan" referring to his 28-year-old son Harry. "Fortunately, he rings me every now and then" Charles added "and from time to time I've even persuaded him to write me a letter."

Charles explained "Because, I keep saying, if you write me a letter and not just an email or a text or something, in 30 years' time or 40 years' time that will be interesting history. "Arriving at London's Imperial War Museum in a silver Bentley the Prince of Wales rose to the occasion by sporting a black tuxedo. His wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, chose a deep purple velvet dress to protect against the cold.The royals were joined by celebrities, Olympians and models all keen to show their support at the awards known as the 'Millies' or Night of Heroes. The evening acknowledges all those involved in miliraty service and includes the titles of Most Outstanding Soldier, Overcoming Adversity, Most Outstanding Airman and  Most Outstanding Marine.

Adding a touch of Hollywood glamour to proceedings were Kevin Spacey, Glee actor Matthew Morrison, Amanda Seyfried and Birdsong star, Eddie Redmayne. Amanda, who co-stars with Eddie in Les Miserables, chose an enchanting lilac dress with a silver belt for the London-based event.Also stepping out at the glamorous affair was Australian beauty Elle Macpherson, footballer Frank Lampard and his girlfriend Christine Bleakley as well as comedian Ricky Gervais.The stars of Team GB, who have been seen at a host of events since their sporting successes this summer, also walked the red carpet. Omypic cyclist and gold-medal-winner Victoria Pendleton looked striking in a floor length pink halter-neck dress. Victoria, who left Strictly Come Dancing several weeks ago said "It is important to celebrate and thank all the people who help us in the military all across the world every day. And also they played a very special role this summer, one we are very grateful of and really made the experience for people coming to London to watch the Games something really special."

The 32-year-old commented that she had worn waterproof mascara and filled her purse full of tissues in anticipation of the emotional award ceremony. Stars of the latest I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here also turned out in London. Whilst series winner and 'Queen of the Jungle' Charlie Brooks was absent, Ashley Roberts, David Haye and Helen Flanagan flew the flag for the ITV show, which ended last week.Pussycat Doll Ashley, who finished in second place, wore a glittering black and gold dress for the occasion. Ashley completed her look with a deep red lipstick, dramatic eye shadow and wore scooped her blonde hair into a bun.
