A sweet day out for the Queen and Prince Philip at a chocolate factory

It was a sweet end to the week for the Queen and Prince Philip as they toured the Mars chocolate factory on Friday. The royal couple saw Mars Bars about to be covered in chocolate and vats of Maltesers during their visit to the company's production centre in Slough.Dressed in a magenta coat and matching hat, Britain's monarch was presented with a chocolate replica of the Irish Stage Coach from her coronation, which was finished with 24-carat gold leaf.

During the visit Queen Elizabeth met Audrey Cook, 83, who joined the company at the age of just 14."This was the most special day I've had in nearly 70 years here" Audrey said, "it was such an honour to meet the Queen. It's another wonderful story to tell my family about my career at Mars. "Fiona Dawson, President of Mars Chocolate UK said she was "absolutely delighted" that the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh had taken the time to tour the factory.

"We have been manufacturing chocolate in Slough for over 80 years and it was a real privilege to have the opportunity to share our UK manufacturing heritage with our guests and introduce some of our fantastic Associates. "The royal visit ended with the unveiling of a plaque honouring the sovereign's presence at the factory where the first Mars bar was made 81 years ago.
