Born on 22 July, Kate Middleton's as yet unnamed son joins a band of famous Cancerians including his father Prince William and late grandmother Princess Diana. Our astrologer Jonathan Cainer predicts that Baby Cambridge will be a rule-breaker and peacemaker, making him a truly charismatic monarch.

Those born under the sign of the crab tend to be sensitive and fiercely loving. To be a Cancer is to care passionately about the people and causes who matter to you. This was certainly the case with Diana, who arrived in the world on 1 July 1961 on a similarly blistering day. Known for her charity work, she broke new ground by reaching out to AIDS and leprosy sufferers.

The same qualities can be seen in her son William who was born right at the start of the sign on 21 June 1982 and shows incredible empathy with ordinary people on his public engagements.

Tom CruiseWhen it comes to the famous Cancer charisma, the Hollywood action man Tom Cruise has it in bucketfuls. Born on 3 July 1962, he simply does things bigger and better than other people. Since his first leading role in 1983's Risky Business, the actor has starred in many of the top $100 million-grossing blockbusters of all time.Despite his success, like most Cancers he is very much a homebody too and devoted to his three children. During his marriage to Katie Holmes she described chilled out family parties in their back garden.

Meryl StreepFresh faced girl next door-turned-pop star Cheryl Cole made her grand entrance on 30 June 1983.She's a typical Cancer in that her sweet nature is combined with a tough outer shell. She rose to fame in 2002 during reality show Popstars: The Rivals, before conquering the charts with girl group Girls Aloud.Cheryl bounced back from the end of her marriage to footballer Ashley Cole in July 2006 with a solo career and a successful stint as an X Factor judge in 2008. Other well-known names who combine star quality with a homeloving streak include Tom Hanks, Jaden Smith, Gisele Bundchen and Meryl Streep.Brazilian bombshell Gisele Bundchen, 20 July 1980, is the ultimate nurturer. As well as having endless, A-list legs that have earned her countless magazine covers and a Victoria's Secret contract, Gisele employs four of her five sisters.

Jaden SmithShe also has three children with Patriots quarterback Tom Brady – Benjamin, Vivian and John, who is from her husband's previous relationship. Of John, she says: "I love him the same way as if he were mine."

Meanwhile Meryl, born 22 June 1949, has somehow managed to raise a family, while notching up Oscar nominations  – 17 in all. She's taken home an Academy Award statuette three times. Yet her proudest achievement is her four children and the actress says she lives for the times when they come home and raid the fridge bare.
