Aussies Natalie Imbruglia and Daniel Johns, frontman for rock group Silverchair, wanted to stay close to home for their romantic nuptials, held on New Year's Eve in tropical Northern Queensland.
Guests were given little info about the secret wedding, and told only to pack enough clothes for a warm climate for three days, before jetting into Cairns. Both invitees and the happy couple were whisked away to the idyllic Thala Beach resort near Port Douglas, which promises "one of the most private holidays you have ever had".
Set on a two-kilometre stretch of untouched coastline, with panoramic views of the surroundings, including the Great Barrier Reef and World Heritage Forests, the resort was certainly the perfect setting for Natalie's dream wedding. For the special event, guests strolled to a tranquil clearing between the beach and the resort, where chairs had been set up for the ceremony, and nearby, a specially built marquee was set up for the reception.
