Madonna and her daughter Lourdes' new girls' clothing line 'Material Girl' was launched on Tuesday in New York.
However, after all the hard work that went into the fashion range, both mother and daughter were absent from the unveilling.
The pop superstar apparently took an impromptu Holiday for the day, leaving model and spokeswoman for the line Taylor Momsen to supervise the launch.
Hundreds of fans were left disappointed when Madonna, 51, and her 13-year-old daughter Lourdes failed to show at Macy's, New York.
Nevertheless, Taylor, the 17-year-old star of U.S TV series Gossip Girl, kept the crowd entertained by performing tracks with her alternative rock band, The Pretty Reckless.
And in a cropped black top, skinny black jeans and a studded leather jacket from the range, she couldn't have looked any more rock chick.
The clothing line, which is aimed at young teens, imitates the staple pieces in Madonna's wardrobe and includes thigh-skimming skirts, slashed cropped tops, sequinned hot pants and Eighties-inspired pieces, as well as handbags, footwear and accessories.
Despite failing to 'materialise' at the launch, Taylor said of Madonna: "[She] totally came in and intervened [on the shoot] and re-did everything and positioned everything and put it into her own vibe.
"Madonna is very comfortable to be around – very professional but a lot of fun."
