Clarence House have announced that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their first child.
The royal couple, who wed in April 2011, decided to announce the news after Kate was admitted to hospital for several days after suffering acute morning sickness.
The Duchess was last seen in public on Friday when she visited her old school in Pangbourne to commemorate St. Andrew's Day.
The royal baby will be the third in line to the throne as the direct successor after Grandfather Prince Charles and father, Prince William.
Prime Minister David Cameron wrote on Twitter that he was "delighted by the news", adding: "They will make wonderful parents."
