Naomi Watts' latest film Diana has failed to attract audiences on its opening weekend in America, grossing only £40,000 at the box office.
The film documents the late Princess' romances with heart surgeon Hasnat Khan and Dodi Fayed and the moments leading up to the fatal car crash in 1997.
Cas Anvar stars as Dodi Fayed alongside British-Australian actress Naomi who plays the Princess of Wales. The movie also underperformed in the UK box office when it came out in cinemas in September.
Director of Diana Oliver Hirschbiegel explained that he understood why the film hadn’t been well received in the Britain saying: "I think for the British, Diana is still a trauma they haven't come to terms with."
