William's luck runs out in game of street hockey

Wednesday July 6, 2011

He may have beaten his wife in a dragon boat race on Monday, but Prince William wasn’t quite so lucky in a game of street hockey on the sixth day of their North American tour.

The 29-year-old lost against a 6ft 3in local player despite the encouragement of the Duchess of Cambridge who was cheering from the sidelines

She was unable to join in due to her towering heels.

'I would have taken a shot if I wasn't in heels,' she told Gloria Francis, 16, gesturing to her nude LK Bennett stilettoes.

But she did throw the orange puck onto the floor to start the game.

Earlier, the royal couple were treated to traditional activities of the Northwest territories.

They took to the water in a canoe boat together and met Mounties.

They even headed out into the wilderness, Kate appropriately attired in an olive fitted shirt, skinny jeans and cream boat shoes.
