Ricky Gervais is bringing his infamous character David Brent back to life in new film adaptation more than a decade after BBC2 series The Office ended.
Actor and comedian Ricky will star in the BBC-backed film Life on the Road which will depict David Brent, a paper merchant turned travelling salesman's, last attempt to become a rock star 15 years after being made redundant from the Slough paper merchant Wernham Hogg.
It has been confirmed that Life on the Road will be shot in the mockumentary style made famous by The Office television series and is to start production next year.
Ricky has spoken about his David Brent character in the forthcoming film saying: "He thinks it'll be like Scorsese doing the Rolling Stones, but we'll show the full horror. He's had to take two weeks off work and cash in his pension, because the session musicians in the band are costing him more than he's getting in ticket sales."
Since 7 million viewers tuned in to watch the finale of The Office in 2003 Ricky Gervais has revisited the character last year for a Comic Relief special, as well as featuring in a series of spoof guitar tutorials on YouTube.
Channel 4's Derek, which follows the life of a care home worker, is the most recent TV series Ricky has appeared in.
