Talk about a piercing image.
British funnyman Ricky Gervais has recreated a famous magazine cover of Muhammad Ali from the Sixties, which shows the boxer being used as target practice by an archer.
In the original, the devoutly Muslim sportsman was alluding to what he saw as his martyrdom after being stripped of his boxing title for refusing to fight in Vietnam.
For the shoot in Esquire magazine he was cast in the role of St Sebastian, the patron saint of athletes who was executed by archers in 288AD.
Ricky, who is one of four guest editors for the new edition of the men's magazine, joked: "I sting like a butterfly and I'm shaped like a bee. So close enough."
