Lightly tanned from her successful trip to the Caribbean in support of her mother-in-law, the Countess of Wessex was dazzling in an extravagant hat as she stepped out on Commonwealth Day.
Sophie joined the Queen and the Duchess of Cornwall at Westminister Abbey at a multi-faith service on Monday.
The event was one of the first on the Jubilee calendar, to celebrate the monarch's role as head of the 54 Commonwealth states.
In a pre-recorded address that was played to the 1,000-strong congregation, mostly made up of schoolchildren, the Queen stressed the importance of diversity.
She said: "Our circumstances and surroundings may vary enormously, for example in the food we eat and the clothes we wear, but we share one humanity, and this draws us all together".
