The scandal that has engulfed English rubgy has claimed another scalp.
Team manager Martin Johnson has resigned.
Star players including Mike Tindall – husband of the Queen's granddaughter Zara Phillips – were criticised for their poor performance and off-pitch behaviour at the recent World Cup.
He is understood to have informed the Rugby Football Union of his decision on Tuesday.
Martin was set to appear at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.
He was expected to explain his decision to walk away from the job he has held since July 2008, after being capped 84 times.
His resignation comes as Mike was fined £25,000 and removed from the squad.
Meanwhile, James Haskell and Chris Ashton were also reprimanded for bad behaviour.
