Johnny Depp has become Hollywood's current highest-earning actor after reportedly securing a £21 million deal for the fourth movie installment of Pirates of the Caribbean.
The film, On stranger Tides, places the actor above the likes of Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks and Mel Gibson, who each command about £18 million.
And the huge pay packet could increase if the much-anticipated movie turns into a box office hit.
Studio bosses at Disney have apparently agreed to the large salary because Johnny's former co-stars, Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom, will not be returning for the next adventure.
Nevertheless, Geoffrey Rush will again play Captain Barbossa and Penelope Cruz has reportedly been lined up to play the new female lead.
